Family allowance in the Netherlands

Our company will handle all formalities and assist in the process of applying for family allowance in the Netherlands (Kinderbijslag). This will provide you with financial support and the opportunity to ensure better development for your children. This benefit can be obtained by individuals who are legally employed in the Netherlands, regardless of their income level.

Family Allowance in the Netherlands for Poles - What conditions to meet?

This form of financial assistance can be granted for up to 4 quarters retroactively from the date of application. It is provided regardless of whether the family already receives benefits in Poland (although they will be reduced by the amount of Polish benefits). A necessary condition to qualify for family allowance in the Netherlands is to have what is called an unrestricted tax liability.

How to obtain unrestricted tax liability?

  • Pay social security contributions to the Dutch insurance fund
  • Work for a minimum of 183 days (consecutively) or demonstrate that in the calendar year, income from the Netherlands constitutes 90% of your total income

Family allowance in the Netherlands is not available for individuals who work seasonally in the country. It's important to note that family benefits in the Netherlands are paid for children up to the age of 18 (a condition for receiving assistance is to prove that the child is dependent on the parent or legal guardian).

How much will you receive?

The allowance is paid quarterly in the Netherlands, and its amount depends on the child's age - the amount increases after the child turns 6 and 12 years old.

Starting from January 1st, 2020, the family allowance amounts are:

  • 221.49 euros (child up to 5 years old)
  • 268.95 euros (child from 6 to 11 years old)
  • 316.41 euros (child from 12 to 17 years old)

In addition to the base amount, additional supplements are provided for family allowance in the Netherlands. These supplements depend on the parents' income, with the relation being that lower income results in a potentially higher supplement.
